PEPE SPIN
My name is Giuseppe Bottaro, I was born and raised on one of the most beautiful coasts of eastern Sicily.
I was lucky enough to literally live “inside the sea”: such was the proximity of the sea to our house that waves brought seasalt to the house during rough sea,
That landscape quickly became an “extra room”, where I spent my days fishing, diving and on rafts with friends.
When going out was not possible, the window facing the sea became my TV. I had the opportunity to carefully observe everything that happened to the sea, sometimes witnessing breathtaking scenarios and shows.
The passion for sport fishing was transmitted to me by my father, having the sea so close allowed me to be able to experiment all fishing techniques and evaluate the results.
Over time I began to understand the creatures that inhabit the sea and a sense of respect and admiration for this complex ecosystem has grown within me.
Fishing for me has always been an activity aimed not only at capture, but a way to study and understand the fascinating marine world and to be able to deal with the most powerful animals that populate it.
Thanks to this particular empathic connection with the sea, I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing unforgettable adventures that still push me today to discover and respect this wonderful environment. I hope to be able to transmit and share all these treasured feelings with the people I’ll meet on my way.
To make this dream a reality, a group of enthusiasts and I have decided to establish a non-profit amateur sports association for sport fishing that will: recognize and pass on, especially to new generations, a culture of environmental awareness and respect for the sea; promote inclusion and gender equality through sports practice, education, social activities, and amateur sporting events with a sustainable impact on the marine ecosystem
